Today I saw two very disturbing things, but first let me chronicle my recent activity because my site has been down and nothing has been posted for a while.

Ok, so there's nothing really to chronicle... Prom was last weekend, I didn't go, I didn't feel particularly interested in going to Junior prom. Maybe I should have... I didn't.

In other recent news... the opinion I wrote for the school paper about the science fair has caused a few people to give me some angry-sounding feedback... of course, if I wrote that opinion article to win people over to my views, I wouldn't have used terms like a "plethora of crappy projects" or something to that effect. Let's face it, I wrote that to be a rabble rouser. Sure, the views I expressed there are those of myself, and they are in my mind well founded, however my articulation of said views was incredibly bad if I wanted to do anything other than piss people off. That's like trying to convince people you're right, simply by shouting louder and louder with more and more profanity, but without actually making based arguments.

Anyhow, back to things I found disturbing. Today, I went to teach some allegedly gifted 5th and 6th graders some physics, it was supposed to be Grant, Mike, Brett and Me, but Grant was denied the privelege of going because his french teacher apparently hates him. We got there, and did all Meshna (my physics teacher) did his schpiel, and I found myself thinking that he was treating them slightly stupider than they actually were... but regardless of that let me get to what bugged me...

what bugged me was how these kids acted. There were two that kind of disgusted me, and led me further to believe that the state of society today is simply going to the crapper. First of all, there was this one kid, in the group I was helping out, and all he did was sit around and not do any work, going on and on about how he was going to be this great skateboarder, and crap like that. He's hovering around Mike because he's got this DC Shoe Co shirt on and ergo must be a skater, although he's not, and he was pretty dissappointed it seemed... that was amusing... but he said one thing in particular that revolted me. To paraphrase, he said, "I used to be into electronics and math and stuff, but now I'm into skating. I used to get good grades, but now that i'm going to be a skater, I don't have to." Actually, that was a combination of two seperate statements, the second of which was made in response to a different kid asking him to do some math for the group, because he had a better grade. anyhow, that strikes me as the absolute worst way to go about dealing with interests.

anyhow, the other thing I was going to write about, will not actually be written about, because I realized that it was in contradiction with a different conviction I made earlier, and I stand by my earlier generalization and opinion, because it makes more sense than the one I was going to write about... even still, 5th and 6th graders are getting awfully scantily clad considering their age. some of the clothes these kids have really does suprise me.

Well, my typing blows... I can't really say why. I've been making typos out the proverbial wazoo today... and have gotten lazier and lazer about correcting them. whatever... goodbye.
